More Healthy Discoveries

by Lisa Golebieski, MS

As third in a series of “If You Like That….Try This”, here are few more discoveries to try.  It’s a fun way to do your own taste comparison on healthier versions of the foods you may already crave.

If you like Eggo French Toaster Sticks…..try Van’s Wheat Free Cinnamon French Toast sticks

Health benefits include:

Wheat/Gluten free, dairy and egg free, made with whole grains, good source of calcium, no artificial ingredients or colors

If you like Wise Cheez Doodles…..try Cheetos Simply Natural White Cheddar Puffs

Health benefits include:

Zero trans-fat, gluten free, baked (not fried), MSG and soy free, organic corn meal, no artificial colors.

If you like Pillsbury Crescent Rolls…..try Immaculate Baking Company Crescent Rolls

Health benefits include:

No trans fats, no hydrogenated oils, no artificial flavors/colors, no preservatives.

If you like Seagram’s Ginger Ale…..try Whole Foods Ginger Ale

Health benefits include:

Made with real ginger, no high-fructose, no sodium benzoate or phosphoric acid.

If you like Andy Capp’s Fries…..try Snikiddy All Natural Baked Fries

Health benefits include:

All natural, gluten and wheat free, 50% less fat, no trans fats, no hydrogenated oils, no saturated fat, no MSG, vegetarian, cholesterol free and low in sodium

I always look forward to seeing food companies (especially those who are health-conscience) create new healthier versions of foods that most of us grew up with.  It makes life more enjoyable knowing you can still eat what you’ve developed an acquired taste for but consume an alternative brand with health benefits…as long as you stay within the suggested serving size.

Enjoy the flavors of life!

  1. Thank you Gloria! So very true about a lot of what we consume these days. My series of “If You Like That….Try This” is in an effort to create “awareness” by reading labels on everything we buy and to choose healthier ingredients/alternative products.

  2. Are you positive the Cheetos Simply Natural white Cheddar puffs are baked? I can’t find it on the label or on the website. I would love to know for sure. Thanks
